My Chubby Little Chipmunk

Embry had a doctor appointment on Monday to check her weight, because the doctor was concerned about how much weight she had lost. She was 8lb 11oz when she was born, and then she was 8lb 7oz when she left the hospital on Friday. On Sunday at her weight check she was 8lb 1oz, meaning she lost 10oz in 4 days. Luckily on Monday she had gained 2oz back. so she now weighs 8lb 3oz. She still has some pudgy cheeks despite her weight loss. I think she looks like a chubby little chipmunk. The bruising and swelling in her face has gone down considerably since she was born. I felt really bad for her with all the bruises she had on her face, so I am glad they have mostly gone away.

Elijah Loves Being a Big Brother

Elijah loves being a big brother! He gets very concerned when Embry gets upset and does his very best to try to make her happy. He calls Embry his baby and always says that he loves her. Dustin and I are both very happy and relieved that Elijah has taken to Embry so well.

Embry Elizabeth Coffman born 7/22/2010

Embry is here!!!
Waiting for Embry to arrive...
Embry joined us at 4:02pm. She was 8lbs 11oz, 20.5"long (I originally misunderstood, and told everyone she was 21.5"), with a head circumference of 36cm, a few bruises, and a good head of hair. Liz was VERY excited to hold her little girl.
Eli seemed to embrace his role as "Big Brother" very quickly. He just watched her, held her hand, and petted her head. For her part, Embry was very content to just look up at her big brother. Hopefully this will last...
Mother and daughter are doing extremely well, and will be headed home by 4pm today.
I will then relinquish my posting duties back to Liz--she does a MUCH better job anyway!
We love you all!!!
p.s. check back soon for some cute video of Eli holding Emme.

Elijah's Big Boy Bed

The last four days/nights Elijah has been sleeping in his big boy bed. He has done really well with it so far. He still tries to sneak out of his bed when we first put him in there, but it hasn't taken more than a few times of telling him to get back in bed for him to stay there. I have to say that it is pretty funny to wake up because I hear him running from his room to ours in the morning as oppossed to him calling for me from his crib. He has been coming into our room all proud of himself in the morning, and saying "morning mama, I got you!" It is funny! I also think it is amazing that he can take up so much room in a full size bed!

Oneida Nation Pow Wow

This fourth of July weekend my parents came up and we went to a Pow Wow that was held on the reservation that is nearby our house. Tribes came from five states to participate in the Pow Wow. It was really neat to see all of the traditional costumes and to see all of the dancers. This weekend we also spent some time at the park, and we went and got ice cream cones. It was a nice relaxing weekend. My mom also made us a bunch of food to leave so that I don't have to worry about cooking for the next few weeks. AWESOME! I have not really felt like cooking at all for the last couple of weeks, except for quick fix things, so it is nice to have good food to eat again! LOL
