Waiting for Dad to Come Home

The kids always get restless about an hour before Dustin comes home. Tonight, they jammed to their favorite song while they waited.

Successful Completion

Today, Elijah successfully completed 4K! This school year has been filled with huge achievements and growth for Elijah. We have watched him become more independent and more social. He loves school and he loves learning. Elijah is incredibly smart and we are positive that he will do amazing in 5K!

This school year has been a huge change for me as well. The first day I dropped Elijah off at 4K I cried all the way home. In my head I knew Elijah was 4 and that he was old enough to be in 4K, but in my heart I saw this little guy. I would like to say that over the last few months I have only seen my 5 year old Elijah, but that would be a lie. I think I will always see him as my baby boy, but I am trying more and more to see him as the big kid he has become. I am so incredibly proud of Elijah and the incredible little person that he has become!

The Cast is Off!

After three long weeks, Emme finally has her cast off! Emme isn't 100% yet, her leg is still pretty stiff and she is pretty afraid to put all of her weight on it. But, the doctor said that hopefully in the next few days she will be back to her old self. Emme was very, very excited about being able to take a real bath last night. She and Mama both were pretty done with her having to have sponge baths and washing her hair over the side of the tub. I think we are all excited to be able to leave the house more now that I won't have to carry two kids at once. For the last three weeks it has been quite the ordeal just to go to the grocery store! We are very thankful that Emme's leg healed quickly, and that she is no longer in any pain. Hopefully this will be Emme's one and only broken bone!

Elijah's First Soccer Game

Elijah is #9 on the Gold team. Elijah did very well and he stayed with the ball the whole time. We do have to work on making him a little more aggressive though. (how did I have a non-aggressive child?) Their game was extremely entertaining to watch. All of the kids did really well, and there were even several goals scored for each team.

Gideon was hilarious! The whole game he kept clapping his hands and raising his arms in the air. He was yelling "yay, yay! Lijah!"  It was adorable!

Emme got her cast off yesterday afternoon! Yay! She was excited to practice standing on her leg during the water breaks. She was also very vocal and she cheered for her brother the whole time.

Both teams looked so little out there on the field. It didn't help that all of their shirts were about 5 sizes too big! LOL

My Little Navigator

Every morning Elijah asks me what we are going do that day. Today, I told him that we are going to take the Tahoe out for a drive through town and up on the highway, and then we are going to practice parking. I expected him to be upset, but he was way excited. He told me, "awesome mom! Don't worry I will get us home without getting us lost and I will look out the windows for you to make sure you don't hurt the car." He is such a goober! The sad thing is that he is way better at directions than I am. There have been several times when I have been "misplaced" and he knew where we were and how to get home. Needless to say, I feel very comfortable with Elijah as my navigator!

Out With the Old and in With the Newer

The other day Dustin and I traded in our Jeep Grand Cherokee for a new to us Chevy Tahoe. We have been discussing a bigger car for a few months now, and we finally decided to just bite the bullet and make the switch. We were both sad to say farewell to the Jeep. The Jeep was my car, and I have to say in the almost 3 years we have had her, I have become very attached to her. I would even goes as far as saying that I loved her. (sniff, sniff) She always gotten us where we needed to go, especially in the crappy snow filled Green Bay winters, and at the end of the day she kept my little family safe. But, she wasn't getting any younger or any bigger. The back seat was just way too cramped for all three car seats. So, she is off to a better family. Hopefully they will love her as much as we did. Farewell Jeep, you will be missed!

This monster will now have to face the task of replacing the Jeep. The Tahoe is a beast! It is definately going to take me a little while to get comfortable parking it and backing it up. Thankfully, it handles great and is much more comfortable to drive than I expected!

It has already won the kids over. Elijah loves that there are vents that open and close all over in the ceiling. He feels that it is his responsibility to close them all when we get out of the car, and to open them all when we get back in the car. He is a funny kid! He is also excited to now have room for guests to sit by him in the back seat. Any volunteers? Emme likes that she can see out of her own window, and that because it is tinted she doesn't have to wear sunglasses unless she wants to. Gideon seems to like having a seat to himself instead of being squished in the middle of his sometimes arguing brother and sister. All three kids were won over by the DVD player. They did get to try it out today while we ran errands, seeing as how it is a fancy new toy. lol They were a little sad when I told them that from now on it is only for long trips, and so they are anxious to go on the "long" trip down to Grandma and Grandpa's house so they can watch it again.

When I Was Your Man

Emme and I really like the Bruno Mars song "When I Was Your Man." The other day Emme was singing her little heart out to it and she stopped and said "this song is so sad mom." I asked her why she thought it was sad and this is what she told me: "mom you and daddy are each others. I don't want you to dance with another man! Daddy would be so sad if you didn't hold his hand or sleep in his bed." I reassured her that her daddy was the only man for me. She looked relieved and said " good, because he did buy you flowers for Mother's Day. So you should stay!"
It was pretty cute, but I don't expect anything less from my Emme.

The Gold Team

Elijah had his first soccer practice tonight. He was very excited about his green soccer ball and his bright green soccer socks.

Emme entertained herself by blowing bubbles
Gideon spent all of practice trying his hardest to get out onto the field with his brother. He very much thought that he was a big boy and needed to be out there.

Lazy Saturday

Emme has been getting a little restless with her big cast on. So, I put her to work dusting the living room on Friday. Emme did a fabulous job helping me get the house ready for Grandma and Grandpa to visit us.

Dustin and Elijah put a BYU sticker and a BYU license plate holder on the Pontiac

Gideon snuck out of the house to see what the other boys were doing

He was very pleased with himself

All three kids got hair cuts this afternoon. The boys both got short buzz cuts, and Emme got about 2 inches trimmed off and layers put into her hair.

Everyone dug around in the grass, dirt and gravel for a while and got very dirty

Gideon showing off his big boy hair cut!
