Baby Girl Coffman

Here are two of the ultrasound pictures that were taken this morning. I know that these kinds of pictures are hard to see, so just to let you know, both pictures are side profiles of the baby's face.

It's a Girl!

I am 5 1/2 months pregnant, and my due date is July 30th. We had an ultrasound this morning and we found out that we are going to have a baby girl! The doctor said that she looks perfect and everything is right at the stage that it should be. Dustin and I are thrilled and can't wait to meet her. I am not sure that Elijah really understands that he is going to have a little sister, but he does like to hug and kiss my belly and say that he is loving the baby. He also tries to see the baby through my belly button! LOL Luckily for me, this pregnancy has been great. I never had morning sickness or anything like that, which was awesome, and now I am into the stage where I just feel really good.

Potty Training and Bribery

I have known for a little while now that Elijah is a funny kid. The whole potty training experience with him is really the first time in his life that I have had to try to bribe into doing something. I know from a couple of experiences, that food does not work as bribery for him. He is the only two year old that I have ever known that would not do anything for a cookie or a piece of candy. Regardless of this fact, I did still try to motivate him with a cookie to get him to go potty on the potty seat for me. It worked occassionally but not consistently, and it was really starting to frustrate me. So, Dustin and I had to get creative with Elijah's rewards. In the morning Eli has decided that he likes to take showers by himself. So we have started giving him that as a reward for his morning potty time. He loves it! He just stands in the shower and talks about how good the warm water feels on his back and on his hair. And do not even think about getting in the shower with him to save time and hot water, it is not allowed! He yells "no, mine shower!," and will not share. LOL At night before bed we have started using Eli's vaporizer as his reward for going potty. Elijah has been sick the last week and a half or so with a cold, and he has become completely obsessed with the vaporizer. He calls it his "tsst, tsst" machine. If Eli goes potty at night, then he gets to help me get the "tsst, tsst" machine ready and set up in his room for him. Eli is a funny kid, but I think that Dustin and I are starting to figure out his quirks.

Elijah's 2 Year Check-up

Elijah finally got in to have his two year check-up today. His doctor is a very nice man, and Eli seems to enjoy him. Although he was not fond of the nurse, especially when she made him get undressed (Elijah hates being naked.) Luckily he only had to get one shot today, and he does not seem to be suffering from it at all. Well, Elijah has gained about 2lbs in the last 8 months and now weighs a whole 23.5lbs. He is only in the 3% for his weight. He has grown almost 3 whole inches and is in the normal range for height. His head thankfully has not grown a single centimeter! We are hoping that his body will continue to catch up to that huge noggin of his! LOL

Potty Time

Big news! Elijah went potty on the toilet this morning. Mind you it was the tiniest little pee ever, but it was the best little pee ever. Elijah and I have had some serious disagreements about the potty. I think he needs to use it to go potty in, and he thinks it is to be used to stall for time and get more books read to him. Last night I finally hit my breaking point and broke down in tears on the bathroom floor and decided that I was just a rotten mom because he hadn't used the potty yet. So yeah, very exciting news for us here in Green Bay! Today had been a very good day for Elijah and I.
