Gideon had his one year check-up today and although he is small for his age, he is completely healthy. The doctor did have a concern about Gideon's feet though. Ever since Gideon was born his feet have turned in pretty significantly. I have talked to the doctor about it before and we both decided to wait and see if once he started walking they would straighten on their own. Well, they haven't. Gideon's feet are now turning in and rolling while he is standing. The doctor said that because of that Gideon can't get balanced, and that is why he isn't walking on his own. So, he gave us two options we could either go see a specialist in Milwaukee now, or we can have him wear hard sole shoes for the next three months and see if his feet correct themselves from being more structured. Dr. Harder said that he feels strongly that just by wearing hard shoes his feet will be okay. We decided to try the shoes for now and then if in three months there is no improvement then we will go see the specialist. Hopefully, little Gideon will be walking on his own very soon.

Hopefully wearing the hard soled shoes will help Gideon's feet. If not, then we'll move on to whatever the doctors think is best. He'll certainly be in our prayers.
Gideon looks like such a big kid now that he isn't wearing "baby" clothes anymore. Seriously those pants are adorable on him. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about with his feet. I think that once he feels more balanced in the shoes, he will realize that he can get around a lot faster by walking instead of crawling. He's got a big brother and sister to keep up with! I'm thinking you're gonna have three crazy, blonde Coffman kids running around in no time!
