I realized the other day that I say some crazy things to my kids. Living in a townhouse I am sure that our neighbors hear me interacting with the kids alot. And the things I say sound especially bad when you only hear them, and you don't see what we are doing while I say them. Some examples of the things I say:
"Emme get out of the garage and go play in the street!" - I just wanted her to go ride her little horse toy.
"Elijah grab that gun and shoot your sister." - Referring to a Nerf gun
"Put your toothbrush all the way in your mouth and hurry over here!" - Well, I did mean just that!
"Stand up in the tub Elijah and hurry over here!"- I did mean that one too, but I had a hold of his arm. We were being kind of safe!
"Hurry into the hot car so I can close the door!" - Obviously so I could hurry and turn on the AC.
"Pick that up off of the ground and put it in your mouth!" - Five second rule right!?
"Pick up all of those poisonous berries now and give them to your brother!"- Trying to keep Emme from eating the weird berries on the bush outside of our house.
"Get over here so I can smack your butt!" - Meaning I wanted to smack the dirt and grass off of their butts before we went in the house.
I am sure that both of my neighbors think that I am totally nuts! And the sad thing is that I am sure I say worse things than these, that I just don't remember saying!
Liz (aka Fef) and Dustin (aka Funshine) were married September 16th 2006. Over the years Elijah, Embry, Gideon, and most recently Evelyn have joined our family.

Tummy Time
Last week when Gideon went to the doctor he asked me how tummy time was going. I was very ashamed to admit that Gideon hasn't had much tummy time. He doesn't like it and I don't like when my little guy is sad. I always end up flipping him onto his back so I can see him smile or picking him up so I can snuggle him. I know I am a bad mom...Dr. Harder already yelled at me. So, I have tried to get creative with his tummy time by using the Boppy to prop him up. If I put him on the magic carpet like I did with the other kids he just lays his head down to the side and is totally content to not try to lift it up. So hopefully the Boppy will work out for a little while until he gets stronger and is willing to play on the Magic Carpet.
Gideon is not very happy on the Magic Carpet.
Gideon slightly happier on the Boppy, but certainly not enjoying himself. But at least his head is up!

Gideon's 2 Month Stats
At almost 9 weeks Gideon now weighs 14lbs. and is a whopping 24in long! The doctor said that Gideon is as big as a large 3 month old! But then added that Gideon is surprisingly thin considering! LOL Too funny! Gideon is already wearing 6 month size clothes because he needs the length. To put into perspective how big he is compared to Emme: Emme is only 19lbs and only a few inches taller at 23 months. Other than being somewhat big for his age the doctor said that he is the perfect baby both physically and in his disposition. We certainly agree!

Elijah
Elijah and I have been having a rough few weeks. He is going through a phase where he is really pulling away from me and trying to distance himself. It is really hard for me since he has been a huge mama's boy from the very beginning. The other night I went to kiss him good night and he pulled away from me and said that he didn't want hugs and kisses from me anymore. It was really sad! He has been really mouthy and has quite the attitude with me lately. So, obviously it has been causing some contention between the two of us. The only glimmer of good that has come from his behavior is that he is really starting to gravitate towards Dustin. He very much wants to be where Dustin is, and to be doing "boy" things with Dustin. I feel bad because I know that I haven't been able to give him all of the attention that I used to be able to now that I have the other two kids. So I am glad that he can get that attention from Dustin. And I know that this whole phase will make it easier for he and I when he goes to school in August. Thankfully he does still have his great moments (even if they are few and far between). The other day he told me that he wanted a dog. He said that he would pick a dog just like my old dog, and that he would name him Oliver just like I had. I told him that I would love to have a dog like Oliver. Then he said that he would pick one like Oliver because he wants me to have my friend back, because he knows I miss him, and that he knows he was a good dog to me and I should have that again. It was really, really sweet. Elijah has always been a very sensitive little guy. And I am very grateful for that. I think that is a great quality to have. I know that once this phase of being mean is over, Elijah will be a better and stronger person. And that I will be too. So until this phase is over...we will keep living everyday and trying to make the most of the good moments. I love Elijah very much! And I think just like every realtionship there are good times and bad times. This too shall pass.

Gideon's Blessing
This morning Dustin blessed Gideon in church. It was a very nice blessing. Dustin said that Gideon smiled a huge smile at him the whole time! Too cute! My parents were able to come up and spend the weekend with us, so my Dad was able to be in the circle. We tried to get pictures after church and the above pictures are what we got. No one was real happy about having their picture taken. Gideon had exploded all over, all the way up his back on the way home from church, so after the pictures he went straight to the bath. Fun! LOL And while Gideon was in the tub Elijah ran full speed into the door frame of his bedroom door. So he now has a huge goose egg and a bandaid on his forehead. Poor guy! Once we recovered from that experience, we were all exhausted. We all ate lunch and ended up all taking three hour naps! It was nice!
(The boys were supposed to have adorable matching ties to wear for the blessing, but the lady I ordered them from emailed me on Saturday that she had forgotten to mail them. Not cool! I was really bummed. So... when they do eventually arrive I will take pictures and ya'll can see what the boys were supposed to be wearing.)

Happy 2 Months Gideon!
Gideon is going to be 2 months old tomorrow! As you can tell from the pictures he is a very happy little guy! He is always smiling! The only time he gets upset is if he is hungry, and even then he really just fusses. Gideon is amazingly easy going. He is a great eater and he continues to be a great sleeper. Gideon LOVES Elijah! He always has a huge smile for him. Emme LOVES Gideon, and Gideon has learned to put up with how intense Emme can be sometimes. Gideon's favorite person is still Mama for right now, but he is getting better about letting Daddy hold him.
The kids and I put Gideon on the "Magic Carpet" for the first time a few days ago, and he likes it alot. He especially likes when Emme and Elijah lay on the carpet with him. Emme loves the Magic Carpet because she thinks it is "Rio." Too funny!

Little Miss Emme Ems!
Yesterday, I was able to get all of Emme's hair into a big girl ponytail! Seeing her with her hair all pulled back, I realized how much she has grown-up. She is definately out of the baby stage and well into the toddler stage. Emme is a very funny kid! She is talking really well now, and most of the time we can tell what she is saying. She has opinions now, and she is getting very good at expressing. LOL She is so happy all the time! It is amazing how cheerful she is, obviously she gets it from her Daddy. Emme is a dancer. She is always shaking her hips and singing songs to herself. Anytime the tv is on she begs for music videos so she can "dance, dance." She loves to look pretty, which I love! She has to pick out a pretty headband or bow to wear in her hair everyday. She loves to get dressed up for church on Sunday. Emme loves when her daddy tells her she is pretty. She truly glows when he tells her, it is too cute! She loves her "Eliahhh!" She adores everything about him! Emme gets jelly beans when she goes potty on the toilet, and everytime I give her a bean she insists on having one to give to Elijah too. She loves Gideon, and gets very concerned when he cries. She always yells at me "baby eat mom, eat mom" and if I don't do it fast enough for her she gets very frustrated with me. She loves to help get diapers for him and talk and sing to him. She is like a little firecracker in our lives! Emme brings so much joy and laughter to our house and to our family! We love our Emme Ems!

Yay for Gideon!
Gideon has reached another huge milestone! He is sleeping through the night! Yay for Gideon! Yay for Mom and Dad! The last 4 nights or so Gideon has gone to bed at 8 and not woken up again until 4am! He then eats and goes back to sleep until Elijah wakes everyone up around 6 or 7. Gideon is the best baby. It is so nice that at night after the kids go to bed (Elijah and Emme go to bed between 6 and 7) that I can have some time alone as well as some time that is just Dustin and I. I feel incredibly blessed to have good sleepers. After 7 weeks, I finally feel like I am back to normal after having Gideon, and I know that alot of how good I feel is directly related to how much sleep I have been able to get. I love my kids! I hope this routine keeps up!
